Tournament: 2004 marks the 15th annual event sponsored by AYSO Region 403 North Hawaii. The Big Island Cup attracts teams from California, Minnesota, Washington, Oahu, Maui, Kauai, and Hawaii. Teams will play a minimum of three games in a pool play format where the pool winners will advance to a single elimination bracket. There will be provisions that a wild card team will advance to brackets based on tournament performance. U10 is a sportsmanship tournament where game scores are not posted.
Playing Fields: We are proud to have the use of the athletic facility at Hawaii Preparatory Academy located 20 minutes from Hawaii's premiere resort destination coast. There will be three full size fields all within a close proximity and two U10 fields.
Player Eligibility: All players must be registered players with their respective organization and coaches must have a signed medical release at all times. Age groupings are U10, U12, U14, U16, U19. The qualifying age for all divisions is determined as of July 31, 2003. Coed teams shall play in the boys pool of the appropriate age
Tournament Fees: Entry fee is $350.00 per team. Div. U-10 Fee is $250.00 per team and must accompany the tournament application. A full refund will be given within 14 days to teams that withdraw prior to 30 days before the tournament. Teams that withdraw less than 30 days before the tournament will receive a full refund, minus a $20 document and postage fee, if a replacement team can be found. Regardless of the reasons, in the event the tournament is completely canceled, a full refund of all team moneys paid to Big Island Cup will be returned to the teams.
Referee Deposit: Each team in the tournament shall send, as part of their registration and application to the tournament, a referee deposit of $150.00. Each team in the tournament is required to supply the Big Island Cup with a center referee and two (2) assistant referees. All referees should be of the highest caliber and possess the appropriate ability to officiate at their respective divisions. Referee deposit refunds shall be prorated based on the number of assignments fulfilled. Deposits shall be returned no later than 14 days from the last day of the tournament.
Awards: Individual Gold and Silver medals shall be awarded to each player on the U12-U19 teams playing in the championship game. The winning team will also receive a trophy. There will be sportsmanship medals awarded to the team in each division with the highest sportsmanship point average. There will also be an overall tournament sportsmanship winner which will receive a team trophy. All U10 players will receive a participation gift and the sportsmanship winners will receive medals.
Commitments: Application, tournament fee, referee deposit and team roster must be received by the tournament director no later than June 12, 2004 in order to be guaranteed entry. All entries received after shall be given entry on a space available basis.
